I merely stated the commonly accepted definition of usenet spam.
The other definition of Spam is a meat product manufactured by Hormel Foods.

If you say so.

Merely posting a notice once does not spam make.
It is also contained information that could be useful to a photographer
who uses a Contax or Yashica mount SLR.
If you can prove that the original post ws not photography related, go
right ahead and make yourself look silly.
I continue to have a nice day and hope that you do too.

| I continue to have a nice day and hope that you do too.
The mere fact that it is not a discussion on photography, in accordance with this News
Group's charter, and is only posting to sell a product makes it spam.
Now if the poster was posting a URL to a web site (not related to auctions or to a
commercial site) then it would not be spam unless it is posted to numerous News Groups or
repeatedly posted over and over in the same News Group.
Take the past Ronald L. Grossi's posts. He wasn't selling any product. The shear
repetitiveness made it spam. When it is posted numerously to one News Group it then crosses
the line from just spam to News Group flooding.
YOU may not define the intial post of this thread as spam but it is indeed spam. Your
assertion that my reply was spam is equally off target and shows your lack of understanding
in this subject matter. It is NEVER spam or Off Topic to notify a poster to conform to the
proper use of a given News Group. The fact that it was a photographic device is a moot
point. Steven posted the correct place to place such a post as; rec.photo.marketplace.
BTW: 'SPAM' is the copyright of Hormel. { Notice SPAM is in all caps. not mixed case or all
lowercase }

I have been parts of various newsgroups in different forms of electronic
media since circa 1983 as I recall.
I'm an Engineer by trade (Networking) so I think I know what SPAM is - been
in IT since I turned 17.
I have never seen anyone react to a post for a product that is considered
rare or highly desirable to be spam. (look I typed spam in lowercase ).
I regrettably apologize for your accusation that I spammed the group.
To be honest...I suspect newsgroups will continue to wane as the years
progress until they are of very little use to anyone. So whether the post
infringes on the exact charter is a grey line...given you should take all
the synergy you can get given the post is ~somewhat related~ to the topic.
I admin a respectable forum of a motorcycle enthusiasts with over 1400
members. I certainly would not consider something like this spam.
Especially for vintage / classic / hard to get items that pertain to
PHOTOGRAPHY.
Again...I say unbelievable.
kudos to anyone who didnt think my post was spam but if you do....good luck
in life
yes I only poste to this one newsgroup

Now that that you have been told that you have violated the eBay ToS and that what you did
was wrong, don't do it again and move on.
As well, I hope you noted; rec.photo.marketplace
