All of these specimens of petrified human remains
discovered between anthracite veins -- bones, teeth
and soft organs, along with a handmade wooden
handle turned to coal -- won't be part of the evidence
in the courtroom in Harrisburg (U.S.) today for the start of
the Intelligent Design vs. Evolution trial.

Richard Thompson, president and chief counsel
of the Thomas More Law Center, representing the
Dover Area School District against the collusion,
conspiracy, deceit and deception of the Scientific
Establishment, thinks he can win the case without
me and my arsenal of physical evidence.

I offered to testify but Attorney Thompson unfortunately
-- and rather rudely -- refused my generous offer..
Now, unfortunately, the truth of an Intelligent Designer
ain't got a snowball's chance.

Ummm. Could someone please tell me what the relevance is of this stuff to a
group who is supposed to be learning about photography? I don't understand
what the argument over intelligent design vs. evolution has to do with
photography...unless one wants to argue that the modern cameras, digital or
otherwise, have evolved from some single-celled organism from deep in the
bottom of the ocean. ;)
**Said with a VERY tongue-in-cheek-what-will-they-think-of-next look on my
face. I mean really people this has little to do with the subject of the
group...or am I wrong about that?***

Ofcourse You're 100% right about the off-topic remarks,
but I do encourage You and everyone in here and Usenet posters in
general to learn and utilize the (proper) degree of quotation and
thereby not posting off-topic texts twice and/or quoting ~150 lines
just to say "I agree."...
George Firestone - 26 Sep 2005 22:37 GMT
Actually it does Cheryl.
There are people (Intelligent Design followers) are religion oriented. If
they get power it will be the end of Photography. Why?
The "Ten Commandments" believers, if they get power would enforce the 10
Commandments. Reference here is "Thou Shalt Not Have Graven Images".
That's the end of images:-

Sorry, my lack of knowledge of Hebrew did not allow me to translate the
words into present day English.
The message, though, is don't make pictures.
And this does affect Photography.

Dude, I am not here to save your soul. The message is, You shall have no
other gods besides Me...
If you want to beat up on other peoples beliefs, please, go do it somewhere
else.

That's a faux interpretation !
Aseres Hadiberos
1. Belief in G-d
2. Prohibition of Improper Worship
3. Prohibition of Oaths
4. Shabbos
5. Respect for Parents and Teachers
6. Prohibition of Murder
7. Prohibition of Adultery
8. Prohibition of Theft
9. Prohibition of False Witness
10. Prohibition of Coveting
The above concerns #2 Prohibition of Improper Worship
This category is derived from Ex. 20:3-6, beginning, "You shall not have other gods..." It
encompasses within it the prohibition against the worship of other gods as well as the
prohibition of improper forms of worship of the one true G-d.
So what is not allowed is; using statues as representatives of G-d, praying to false gods
and improperly praying to G-d (must be done in a respectful way). This is not about images
of mortal man. It is only about images or representations of G-d.

I have to say that I resemble one of these remarks. However, there is not a
thing in my Bible that says that photography will be ended if those of us
who do believe in Intelligent Design ever "get power" because that is NOT
how my Greater Power created us. If you believe it is, then I highly suggest
a class at a good university somewhere that can teach you about how the
Bible was written. I don't mean from the standpoint of it being an
authoritative narration of the history of the Earth. That is just how I
believe in that book. I mean simply from a standpoint of word translation.
Something like that anyway. I can just hope you understand what I am trying
to say.
Having said that, I do have a question that I would like to get some
viewpoints on but it won't be posted in this particular thread of
__absolutely__ "nothing to do with photography" nonsense.

For an aspiring photographer, Cheryl, you must first remember to remove
the cover from the lens.
<
What you're seeing is the greatest -- and most significant --
photograph EVERr taken, a photo of the incredible immensity of the
universe (making you and me and the rest of mankind and Spaceship Earth
rather small potatos):

Ed's been sprouting this stuff for years. It seems he 1) hasn't got the
message it's all bunk, and 2) he doesn't know who to put his argument to.
