I'm on cable, and your site is slow to load and slow to load
individual pix.  I didn't have the patience to wait for more, but the
ones I saw were good.

Submitted to the html validator at w3c.org, it shows 58 errors; 1 warning.
This is probably not going to cause issues for desktop users, but most
likely will for anyone using a palm device.
Cip - 29 Aug 2008 17:02 GMT
thank for your time.
the site is for desktop platform, not for pda.
anyway can u explain me what's "w3c.org"?

thx

Sure - it's the World Wide Web Consortium. They maintain the standards. It
would behoove you to adhere to them.

You have some very large images on your site. About half the world is still
on dial-up. It would take forever for your first page to load on the dialup
I use at the office I volunteer at. On my home broadband it is fairly crisp,
but you can still see the image loading.  I have a friend who designed a
fine site for his community, but it too was loaded with many high quality
large images, and he was forced to redesign it to something that would load
in a viewers lifetime when they were on dialup.  You might do as many do,
and use thumbs on the early pages, and let us select when we want large
images. It would at least seem faster.

Interesting stuff.  Good luck!

the site is made for adv agencies, mags etc etc
obviously I'd prefere all the world can see my images, but i think 800px
for the long side is not too much.
:D

creative, a tad different, surreal and perhaps a little sci-fi. but not too
much, quality to some pics.   Enjoyable viewing.

Your images are too large and that is what is slowing everything down.  For
example
http://www.albertoraviglione.com/files/gimgs/7_05t_v2.jpg
1200x800 and 794125 bytes. This could easily be 150000 or so and not suffer
from loss of quality on the screen.

But worse when your slide show comes up
http://www.albertoraviglione.com/index.php?/root/editorials/
(third one on the top)
it resizes the image to 1022x681 so I get to see all sorts of artifacts
caused by the resizing and it is still 794125 bytes. All the file size and
none of the quality.

I understand the desire for quality, but if you are using a viewer that is
going to resize them you can throw your quality concerns away.

Save them at the same or smaller size as what you would expect the "average
human viewer" to see them at  (no more than 800-1000 horizontally or 500-650
vertically), but more importantly save them at a Jpeg compression of 50-75%
or 6-9 in Photoshop.  The goal is to save them at a size that will not be
reduced by viewer so the picture is not modified from what you want them to
see.

The file sizes are much better, but the image sizes (pixel dimensions) are
still too big.  It is loading much faster, but you are still at the mercy of
the image viewer to resize the image and not ruin the detail.

2 20" monitors set to 1280x1024.  Not everyone is going to look at it
full-screen.

Interesting composites, but many of the images have serious lighting
inconsistencies between the background image and the placed foreground
figure. These inconsistencies are not strong enough to produce an
other-worldly effect, if that is what you are trying to do. Mostly they
are just annoying.

Recommendation: pay closer attention to lighting the placed figure --
either make it more consistent or more inconsistent with the context,
depending on what your intention is.

Hope this helps,

siva

thx
i think are u talking about the series "unnecessary" spider-bear and
made in india.
in those 2 series the inconsistencies are studied.
it is a known fake.

in the other series in unnecessary (dandy bears, la vie en rose et
clown) there's any inconsistencies.

thx for your advice

Alberto
