Dear all,
i'm going to US for vacation by august end. Considering I'd like to
enlarge my lenses set for my D80 with a 10-20mm sigma and maybe with a
70-300mm (still don't know which, but low profile) would you suggest
to buy sigma/nikon lenses in hawaii or california? And where?
Thanks

It depends on where you will be in Hawaii, on our Island, the Big
Island, it is very hard to buy any kind of lenses and what you can buy
is way over priced. I would think Oahu would be better, but I have
not tried buying lenses there.
I just got back from the mainland and on the top of my to do list was
getting a new lens, which I did. For lenses I am getting to the point
where I really want to try them in the store before buying them, I
have had to send a lot of mail order lenses back due to them not
working well.

If you get the 70-300 get the VR lens the VR works extremely well.
It's the VR II and has two settings, normal and active. The normal
setting will let you pan horizontally or vertically. The active
setting will stop all movement. It does and excellent job.
Mine is very sharp and provides excellent pictures at slow shutter
speeds, in my case down to about 1/125th sec. at 300mm. I'm not
nearly as steady as I used to be and use a monopod if I have to go
below 1/125th sec. shutter speed.

A 45 may not expand but it will never be smaller than .45!!
