I've got to ask....'does any knowledgeable Nikonian know if Nikon make '2' lenses with focal lengths of 18-70mm? Cheers. According to my trusty Nikon Compendium... (page 194-195) AF-S DX 18-70mm f3.5-4.5G IF-ED was announced in January of 2004 at the same time as the D70. This was the fourth DX format Nikkor lens. I'm not aware of this lens being offered differently, or another lens of the same focal length. The 70-300mm f4.5-5.6D has been offered in three different variations, the most current being a VR model. - JT hopes this helps... My wild guess is that your sales person mixed something up, maybe he meant the new Nikon AF-S DX VR 16-85 mm / 3,5-5,6 to be the "new" one and the 18-70 to be the "old" one, those are the two only DX nikon lenses in that focal range AFAIK.
