I have downloaded a few new actions that work with photoshop CS. How do I
get them in my action catalog?

Hmmm I have been using Photoshop for over a decade so I do know what and
where to locate most commands, but never learn for teaching so I never learn
to remember the name and location.  So I will try my best to help the F1 to
help you how to locate the command <bg>

1. Copy to a folder.  I always copy to a specific folder outside of
Photoshop to I can continue to use even after uninstalled and reinstalled
Photoshop.

2. I am pretty sure it's in the Menu of the History.

    a. Click on the I> (triangle) to open another Menu

    b. Here you will see the option to LOAD ACTION

    c. Tell Photoshop where the action is and LOAD it

    d. After LOADED, the Actions will be available to select

3. To RUN the ACTION.

    a.  now you just go to Action Menu (same place) to LOAD the action you
        want to run

    b. Click on the I> to PLAY.

That's it! and F1 is often a good friend.
