Hi everyone,

How does downloading my images via the PCMCIA port on my laptop compare to
USB 1 and 2 please when using the appropriate adaptors?

Regards,
John.

I'm not quite sure what you are getting at.

I have to use a card reader in my USB adaptor plugged into a PCMIA
slot on my Mac Powerbook because it is just pre USB but it just
behaves like an external drive and the images simply appear on the
card as ordinary jpegs. I use Graphic Converter to do whatever is
required simply because my OS version is not compatible with the
camera software. On a more modern machine, laptop or pc the card would
still appear as an external drive but the camera software could do the
downloads.

Hi Henry,

I'm sorry my post was a bit vague, but what I was getting at was in terms of
download speed. I know that USB2 is about ten times faster than USB1, but
how does PCMCIA compare to that?

Regards,
John.

HI,

I find PCMCIA to be a little slower than USB 1.0. If you have a new laptop
and get a CardBus PCMCIA reader they are very fast. i think Delkin make
them.

Many thanks Andrew, I'll look into that.
