Can anyone in the group help me?
I am digitising some old transparencies/slides but am finding it difficult
to obtain a scanner for the size of slide.
These measure 7cm x 7cm. Twice the size of the normal 35mm.
Advise and assistance would be gratefully received.

Quiet a few Flat scanners around now look at Cannon 5000f upwards and
similar from Epson ect.
Dedicated Filmscaners for that size are top of the range, inc prices

Hi The Guard,

You're best bet is the Epson 2400 flat-bed as I am pretty well sure that is
is fine for negs/slides up-to 5x4 and is now around ?120 or less, though
make sure.

If you are after the best quality around, short of pro-scanners, then I am
looking at 4 contenders:

Epson 3170 - Good value at around ?175
Epson 3200 - Like the 3170 but has firewire for quicker scanning at ?225-250
Canon 9900F - Competes against the 3200, has firewire and cleaning software
at ?260
Epson 4870 - The newest out offering the highest res. scans with digital ICE
(Image Correction Enhancement, ie. cleans up dust marks and so on), firewire
and around ?350.

If you have the funds, the 4870 is the one to go for, but if you do not have
that many then I'd go for the great value 2400Photo, and make sure the light
lid is big enough for your slides.

Cheers,
Stephen
