Leaning towards the A80 but wondering if I will rue not spending the extra
100 on the S45

I have the 45 and I can say that you will not regret it. Worth the extra.
Even look at the S50 if you need higher spec for not much difference in
price.

Best price I could find on S45 is ?260 (digital Depot
https://secure.hitech-uk.com/acatalog/Canon_Products.html).
A80 approx ?260 also. For the same price the S45 is a great camera which
cost ?450 only last Christmas.
