If you were to only have the choice of one lens. and god help you, you
could not have any other, which one would you choose for your line of work

Probably the 70-200mm. It's got the widest range of any of the other lenses
- in 35mm terms it equates to a 105-300mm. That would allow me to cover
most things (though some with difficulty !) I do from day-to-day in my job.
The 17-35mm would also have to be a candidate, but would be effectively
useless for most sport and that would be a major downer.
I do love the 300mm F2.8 - it's a lovely lens, superbly balanced and razor
sharp with extremely good AF. However, as it's effectively a 450mm, it
would limit be heavily for most stuff other than sport.
So yes, it's the 70-200mm.
