Hi,

Im looking for a cheapish body to do b+w photography with. I have been
offered and EOS 10 for £90 and was wondering if this is a good deal or
if i could get a better camera somewhere else (second hand OK). The
EOS 10 is in good condition with all the bits (barcode reader and
remote control). I already own a D30 so i wont be using it for colour
all that much, maybe in low light.

Any opinions

Cheers

Mark

I've had an EOS10 for some years.  It's proved reliable, and impresses with its
5fps - if that's what you need!  The barcode + reader system is of dubious
value, but if you get the right coding books you can get access to parts of the
system not accessible any other way.  Unfortunately, my attempts at printing my
own bar codes to exploit these aspects were total failures.
The quartz date version includes a built-in intervalometer.
I think the camera may be unique (in the EOS range) in that when used in AIServo
mode, it has to acquire good focus before it takes the first photo in a
sequence.  My other film bodies, 50E and 3, are happy too get an out-of-focus
shot whilst still acquiring focus.  Can be quite important for action shots, and
I returned the 10 to Canon thinking it was faulty.  Their response - RTFM.  They
were correct.
Mine works well using "old fashioned" plain TTL flash.
