Is that colour? "Night vision" might suggest not.
I'm watching this thread with interest as I also want to rig up a better
webcam looking outdoors. It's not as easy as you might think as most are
designed for indoor lighting only and unless the view is to the north,
any outdoor view is likely to be staring into the sun at some point.
I do have an Axis 205 network camera looking out of one window, with a
couple of polarisers protecting it, but they result in lousy low light
performance. Also, unless you can view the image on a PC right next to
the camera, it can be a serious pain to get focused and lined up.
Unfortunately I can't with mine, which is why it's so crap:

(really will try to get that improved as I'm sure it's got even worse
since I last checked!)
One plus point is that particular model has the server built in, so it
doesn't need to be connected to a computer, just plugged into a network
port.

Don't get a night vision camera unless you want strange daytime colours.
I had one where green grass looked pink. There's no point anyway
unless you can illuminate the view with infra-red light.
IP cameras (i.e. one that is connected to a network rather than via usb
to a computer) such as the Axis ones mentioned are a better idea because
they can upload images to a web host without a pc having to be on all
the time.
