I need to replace my slide projector.

Is the Leica P150 entry model good?

I need image quality and durability more than bells and whisles.

Thanks

Its very good for the money. However, mine jammed after about 200 slides
(from new) and it had to be replaced by the retailer. (God bless Jessops -
they lost it between their branch and their workshop). So now I'm worried in
case it jams again and needs to be sent back again - knowing my luck it'll
be 3 days out of its warranty.

Don't know anything about the 150, but own and have used both Leica and Kodak
Carousels over many years.

For reliability, I'd recommend keeping away from the (more modern) LKM higher
density magazine (upto 80 slides) and sticking to the older DIN standard 36, or
50, slide capacity.  OK they're not spill-proof, but in my experience they don't
jam anywhere near as often.
The Colorplans are good but expensive lenses.  The lens fitted to the 150 is
obviously made down to a price.  Keep an eye open for better quality s/h lenses.

Currently, I'm getting excellent quality and reliability with a tough old
Carousel S-AV 2000 fitted with a top quality Meopta lens.
