Hello,

I'm new here and looking for a bit of advice.

I'm more of a hill walker than photographer and I've been looking
around for what I thought would be a common need: a rucksack of around
30 litres that has a separately accessible, secure and waterproof
compartment for my D40 with 18-200mm and a separate wide angle lens.

Any recommendations because I'm struggling?

Thanks

The Photo backpacks are more photo then backpack. I would think more in
using one of the smaller waterproff gadget bags(Rezo) placed in the bottom
compartment of somthing like a Freeflow 30 + 6

I have quite liked my TAMRAC rucksack, the section at the top is not very
big but you can fit a few bits and pieces in it.  There is also what it
calls a laptop section but I use for maps, books etc.

My only criticism is that it would be good to have a few straps for
fastening things on the outside.  There are two small open elasticated
pockets at the side that can be for water bottles etc but also can take a
monopod (perhaps even a small tripod) you have to improvise some way of
holding it in place.  There are some loops underneath were a tripod can be
strapped.

Maybe you'd do better with a separate hip pack.
