Hi,
Please help me with a query,  what are the restrictions on using the various
Canon manual focus lenses with the FT QL SLR?   I think (?) that I can use
FD and Breech Lock lenses as well as the older FL lenses?  If I can use FD
and Breech Lock lenses will I get open - aperture metering or stopped down ?
thanks

As far as I know (my first Canon SLR was an FTbN)  you may use any FD lens
in the stop-down metering mode on the FT. The older FD lenses had the breech
locking ring, while the newer had a bayonet-style mount like the other SLR
brands. The even older FL lenses also had the breech locking ring. There was
also the R series, which had to be manually stopped down. I guess they also
had the breech lock, which according to Canon had the great advantage that
the bayonet mating surfaces did not rub against each other, thus
guaranteeing no wear and a perfect alignment even after lots of heavy usage.
To get full aperture metering you need a newer body such as the FTb, FTbN,
TX or F-1.

Hope this helps.
Nils
