Tiny USB socket

Hi

My Olympus C2040-Zoom has a tiny USB socket. I guess it is probably common
to cameras this socket because there is so little space on them for this
kind of thing. However it is not a socket that I've seen anywhere else.

When I bought the camera some time ago there was a USB cable with it but
somewhere along the way that cable has been lost.

I would like to get another USB cable for the camera but I don't know how
to get one with this tiny socket.

I tried a camera/photography shop but they didn't have that one in stock.

I can't unfortunately take a pictures of the socket and put it on a server
for you to look at.

Maybe someone else here has a camera like this and knows this socket and
where I might be able to get a USB cable. Maybe this particular socket has
a name that I could "google".

Thank you :)

Many Cameras have a smaller then B size socket But I bet they dont come
cheap. A Card reader would be cheaper and a better bet.

Count the pins. If it has five it's probably a "USB mini B"
connector.

I don't have your camera but I have other Olympus cameras
that use mini B connectors so it seems a reasonable guess
that yours also may.

Thank you :)

Google has become really amazing. I should have tried that myself. Normally
I do but it slipped my mind this time.

If your camera USB socket is the same as on Canon and Nikon SLRs then -
a friend lost her Nikon USB lead so bought a card reader which came with a
suitable USB lead.
Jessops have them but they cost around £15.

Card readers can be useful - I've used them to download pics to friends PCs
which did not have integral readers.

The card readers come with a USB - mini USB lead.  The mini USB plug
will fit some Olympus digicams, notably the Mju Digital series, but
not others, and certainly not the C2040 Zoom.

The card reader is definitely the way to go.  No need for a dedicated
cable, and it is *much* faster to upload from a card to the PC than
from the camera.  It also doesn't deplete the camera's battery.

I don't know about this model, but the SP-500 has a proprietary plug for the
camera. It looks like a mini-A (or B, I forget which)  but it's not. Anyway,
an xD reader shouldn't be more thatn about a fiver.
