Thank you :)
Google has become really amazing. I should have tried that myself. Normally
I do but it slipped my mind this time.

If your camera USB socket is the same as on Canon and Nikon SLRs then -
a friend lost her Nikon USB lead so bought a card reader which came with a
suitable USB lead.
Jessops have them but they cost around £15.
Card readers can be useful - I've used them to download pics to friends PCs
which did not have integral readers.

The card readers come with a USB - mini USB lead. The mini USB plug
will fit some Olympus digicams, notably the Mju Digital series, but
not others, and certainly not the C2040 Zoom.

The card reader is definitely the way to go. No need for a dedicated
cable, and it is *much* faster to upload from a card to the PC than
from the camera. It also doesn't deplete the camera's battery.

I don't know about this model, but the SP-500 has a proprietary plug for the
camera. It looks like a mini-A (or B, I forget which) but it's not. Anyway,
an xD reader shouldn't be more thatn about a fiver.
