Hi all, I like many others no doubt, have been musing over the idea of
getting a really ood digital camera and trying my luck and celebrity
photo taking as a money making venture.
I have fairly good photography background and have had some decent
cameras and I understand a lot about the photograph tsking process.
It seems though that with modern digital SLRs, it really is point and
shoot. The amount of auto settings is unreal.i would bet a relative
beginner could with luck and a good set up, take some great celeb
photos good enough to sell.
If someone were to try this, what type of camera would he be looking
for.
Is there a camera used by many in the business?
Any constructive input would be very welcome.
regards alan

Yes, dont give up the day job.
Where will you find these 'celebrities'?
Who will you sell these pics to?
Why do you think you will get an exclusive pic?
You realise that anyone in the news usually has 20 or so people snapping
them whenever they appear in public?
Alan.

You may not consider this to be constructive, but the rates paid for
celebrity photographs have taken a terrible dive recently. I doubt it
would be possible to make a decent living solely from this type of
work, unless you are prepared to take much greater risks and work
largely outside the law by becoming one of the paparazzi.
The only celebrity photos that pay well are those that invade privacy
and help to illustrate salacious/sensational stories in the tabloid
press and gossip magazines. And there is huge competition among the
paparazzi to get those shots, so a new entrant to the field needs to
be very good, both technically as a photographer and personally, in
terms of an unskaeable determination to get the shot at all costs.
With respect, I don't think your description of yourself suggests a
person who falls into the category of "potential paparazzo".
