Has anyone had experiences with this company? I ordered an IR filter
from their web site three weeks ago. There was no indication on the
web site that it was a special order and nor was this mentioned in the
confirmation email so , having not received it after a few days, I
emailed them to ask where it was. No reply. I phoned them a few days
later, and was only *then* told that it wasn't a stock item but I
should receive it "next week".

Still nothing. Is my experience of this outfit typical? I certainly
wouldn't recommend them and will not use them again.

I've used them and had a similar experience in that the lens hood I ordered
was not in stock and took a while to arrive (but that was Canon's fault).
They did however keep me informed and as the same item seemed to be out of
stock elsewhere (and would have been more expensive) I put up with the wait.

Despite this I would use them again but perhaps check availability first.

I've also used their shop in Bristol which was fine.

I have purchased from them and had no problems.

( If replying by mail, please note that all "sardines" are canned.
However, unless this a very old message, a "tuna" will swim right
  through. )

Again - no problem here. Ordered a slik tripod last year, came within a
week.

It's a company?

I had visions of it being a product though I'll confess I never thought
you needed a special camera for that kind of photography.

It's only Usenet, no one dies.
My opinions, not the committee's, mine.

"Bristol Cameras" (note plural) can't possibly be an "it".

They probably only sell them in pairs.
