Yes I wondered about that. As far as the UK is concerned Scotland already
has the ban in place. Wales ban starts on the 2nd April 2007 and Englands
starts 1st July 2007.

I see.

What on earth is the point in dragging (no pun intended) it out? There
is little or no preparation needed.  I like to play at folk sessions and
detest coming home reeking of smoke.  The alternative seems to be
extremely noisy filtration and extraction equipment - not good at an
acoustic session.  I'm counting the days and will be rubbing my hands
with glee as I watch all those sad addicts traipsing outside for their
'fix'.  Even better in winter when it's blowing a gale. >:-)

One pub I know of has been smoke free since January.  It's wonderful,
but it makes the smoke problem in all the others seem that much worse.
