Apart from the excellent, but slightly expensive, Kodak service for
D&P + Photo CD, does anyone have any recommendations? (Postal service
preferred.)

Although I have not used the CD service the D&P on 35mm is, in my
experience, superb.

Thanks, I'll go and look at their web site and look at prices.

I have just checked. Their prices for this service are high :-(

Their prices may appear high, but their quality
is second to none, as is their value for money.

Otherwise go somewhere cheap and take pot luck!

(Or find a cheaper hobby)

In that case, the Kodak service for photo CDsmust be cheap according
to you.

I recently used Truprint to process 4-off 35mm 36 exp films, & the
cost was £14.50p., for two sets of prints & all 4 films burnt onto a
single photo-CD.

Not a quick service, but I'm happy with the quality of the prints +
the CD came with both H-Res (App. 600kB) & L-Res ( for email) images,
& a copy of the Fuji editing program.

Good enough for me to use them next time I use a film camera!

I sent a set of prints + a copy off the CD to a photographer friend in
Canda & he was impressed by the general value & quality of the
package.

Many thanks for this info. It sounds like a good deal.

If you want to see samples of the results from the CD-ROM , I can
email any interested parties 2 or 3 full size images, or a small batch
of the email size.
Mostly trains & trams, taken in the US & Canada.
Truprint also included 4 easy finder prints, one 6" x 4" print per
film, with tiny numbered images.
Very hand when looking for a specific shot!

(PS I don't work for, etc. Tru-print, & I even felt the need to
establish, by phone that they had received my films.
At least, the person who took the call was able to find them on their
computer system, as received items. They then arrived 3 days later,
much better than the pessimistic delivery quote from Tru-print!).

David,

That's a handsome offer! But no thanks. I'll wait until I have a film
which is 'ordinary' rather than 'special' and send it off to them.

Strangely enough, the postman dropped an unsolicited Truprint envelope
through my letter box yesterday!

Try Metro Colour (http://www.metrocolourlab.f9.co.uk/). They were AP's
slide processor of the year. I use them for both E6 and C41 process and
scan and have no complaints. They do three resolutions of scanning. The
highest one (17Mb) is done on a different scanner, I think, and are much
better than the lower res ones (and not just in resolution but much
sharper too).

They're quick too. I sent 9 films (E6 and C41 mixed) on Tuesday and got
them all back Friday.

Note that their process and scan prices for C41 are different to E6 and
aren't published anywhere (that I've seen) so call them for prices if
you are using C41.
