I've a basic digital camera , with no close-up facility.
I've a 3 diptre close-up lens from some old conventional camera, I cannot
think of a way of crudely attaching it to the relatively small boss with the
tiny lens of this camera - any ideas,  something better than gaffer tape and
a grommet ?

SRB do an adapter. Bit expensive and only in two filter threads (could use a
stepping ring for other sizes) but it's made for the purpose. It's on page
12 of their PDF catalogue, downloadable from www.srbfilm.co.uk
