Thinking of buying Fujipix S5600, any others I should consider?

I'm thinking of buying a Fujipix S5600, are there any other digital
cameras around this price and ability that I might also consider?

The things that specifically attract me to the S5600 when compared
with other similar cameras are:-

It uses standard AA batteries and I'm well stocked up with those
and have nice portable chargers for them that can be used in car
on 12v as well as the mains.

It's pretty light compared with some of the competition and the
reviews I have read say it's comfortable/easy to use.

The minor downsides are:-

It's only 5.1 megapixels but I suspect that for what I want this
will be quite adequate, I'm not aiming to try and take pictures
   for printing huge enlargements.

The wide angle end of the lens is only 38mm equivalent, I used to
find 28mm on my OM-2 was a bit limiting, 38mm really isn't very
wide at all.  However there are few alternatives that I can see,
there are some cameras which manage 28mm equivalent but they
mostly have other more significant disadvantages.

Are there any other cameras I might consider in the same sort of price
area?  The S5600 can be had for a bit less than GBP150 but I'd consider
up to GBP200 or so for something that offered more of what I want. I'm
not necessarily fixed on the 'super zoom, pseudo-SLR' format but it
seems to offer more of what I want at a given price level.  I might
consider a good 'compact' as weight and portability is a significant
consideration.  I do specifically want:-
   Fast shutter response
   Uses AA rechargeables
Viewfinder of some sort (i.e. not just screen)
   Some wide-angle[ish] ability

Look at the Fuji S-6500 shopping around you should find it at not much more

It's a possibility, though it's significantly bigger/heavier.  I can't
see it at less than £234 so it's almost £100 more too.

Thanks for the idea though, I'll add it to my shortlist.

Not really much help to you, but I bought a Fuji 5500 last year, and
cannot fault it. I only use it for web based pics, so it doesnt get
stretched far for quality, but 5megs's is plenty I reckon - there are no
differences between a film pic and this 5500's at 7x5.

I also bought a S5500 last year :)

Great little all-round performer for a well featured snapper when you
compare it to some of the others in the price range. The S5600 is the
update and I've seen a few of the hobby snappers at the airport using
theirs quite happily.

It can also work in RAW format which is a bonus.

Thanks for the comments so far, very useful.

I think I simply need to decide between the S5600 (smaller, cheaper,
lighter) and the S6500fp (28mm effective WA, a bit more resolution).

I like the twist barrel on the 6500, if I was thinking of one I'd lean
towards that model.
