Film camera prices - still dropping?

I havent followed the fall of film camera prices for ther last 18 months
since I got my new whizz-bang autofocus Canon, but an ad on the .ads
group had me doing a search on ebay for finished film camera prices.

Olympus OM2's are selling for £25, and a bit more with good lenses,
Nikon FE2's are holding up well at £100, but I cant find any other makes
holding anything like a price that would be worthwhile selling them for.
These two were amongst the best of cameras in the mid-80's.

Looks like I'm going to be keeping an eye on ebay, as I'm after a spare
camera to carry around in my van, and a OM2 with f1.4 zuiko at £45 would
fit the bill nicely.
Any others that are a true bargain now?
Alan.

It's frightening isn't it. A couple of years ago I could have sold all
my OM40 kit for about £150, but now, nothing. I've decided to keep it
all now, and even increase the equipment level too - I recently got a
Vivitar 80-250mm OM lens off eBay for £3 (I already have a 1.4 Zuicko).

Yep, I had a OM40 as a carry anywhere camera, but sold it, and all my
other manual focus cameras around 18 months ago.The OM40 went for £20
iirc, a Canon A1 sold for £30, and a T90 for around £60(all with 50mm
lenses).I thought that was low, yet they are lower now, even AF film
cameras are cheap.

I think we're at a point now where digital cameras are a really viable
option over film. I have a Panasonic Lumix FZ7, and that's bloody good.
However, there are times when the instant shooting of a proper SLR is
just essential, and I'm trying to get setup for astrophotography too,
and a long B setting is needed for that.

Film still beats digital for me, especialy in the advanced amateur / pro
pics. digital isn't as good in B & W as film
and digital is so so expensive if you want top quality exhibition prints.
I've inherited a lot of cannon stuff including a T90 that is brand new ie
not a film gone through it but it's not worth
anything, still things might go RETRO

I couldn't agree more. I have recently splashed out on a Bronica SQA + 80mm
P lens for a little over £200, and using it is proving to be a new
experience after a lifetime of 35mm SLR. I haven't gone digital yet as I
can't afford a decent camera semi-pro camera. I do quite fancy the Nikon
D200 though.
