Kodak rubbish software

Can anyone help?;
I've just bought a Kodak C330 and the EasyShare software is very
cumbersome; I just want to connect it to W98SE as a removable disc so I
can use normal photo software but no luck; I can't even find the photos
I've transferred onto my PC anywhere in the Kodak folder.

TIA

Martin

98 can be a bit fussy with USB; are you sure you've installed the driver?
I use 98 and have a separate card reader for just this reason. My Olympus
C-725 tends to crash the computer.

no ;-( ; it's a bit of an all or nothing with Easyshare

I can use the old camera (bust) and put the SD card in that but a bit
of a PITA

For Windows 2000 the Kodak website suggests that you uninstall all the
software and then reinstall. When asked, select a Custom installation and
just install the camera connection software.

It may not work for Win98 though :-(

However, I would expect you to be able to browse the folder where the
Easyshare Software stores your images - it should be My Pictures > Kodak
Pictures > transfer date,  so set up a shortcut to My Pictures>Kodak
Pictures and use your usual Photo-software to manipulate the images.

thanks; will try, part of the problem is that Easyshare requires 64mb
of RAM and my pc only has 56, seems a very hungry aplication for
something so simple (although my PC often sh*ts itself when trying to
open a 3mb image on the standard Truprint viewer)

Get some more memory then - sheesh, you spend $150 on cameras, and expect it
to work on a $75 'puter - coz that's all its worth with that kind of RAM!

Forget the Kodak software & get a USB card reader or get WinXP, it
recognises Kodak cameras without having to install a driver.

Whatever you do, don't get Windows XP - there is no way on earth that
XP is going to run on a PC with only 56Mb RAM. Never in a million years
(which is probably how long it would take to do anything if you did
somehow get it to work!).

As long as you are running Win98SE, however, you should be able to
locate a USB SD card reader which comes with Win98 drivers. Probably
best to avoid the 'budget' end of the market as they tend not to come
with drivers, but some of the better ones I daresay would.

HTH,

Chris.

I should have done a better job of reading the message, I didn't realise he
only had 56MB of RAM. (1 GB of RAM here).
