Hi all well I think I need help from someone, I had a canon ef 70-300m is usm lens which I took some great motorsport pjotos with, and had a very good return image rate with this,This lens wasn't doing everything I wished so I purchased a canon 100-400mm f/4.5-5.5 is usm lens ,I have used this lens about ten times and my image quality and return ratio are nowhere near my old lens what am I doing wrong or could it be a faulty lens/is system?
I am really at a loss and getting slowly frustrated,PLEASE HELP
CHEER
regards to you al

I think we need to see some examples or at least have a description of
what's wrong with the images. I have the same lens and have no problems.
Maybe you are using the wrong IS mode???

Probably a good to bad shot ratio?
Is this lens longer and heavier?
Maybe a clue there if it is, even with image stabilisation, you have to
hold them up in the right place.

Both the old and your new lens gets a lot of detailed discussion over at the
Canon SLR and Canon SLR-lenses forums on www.dpreview.com . Could be worth
rummaging around their archives...

Hi Thanks for responding,I took the lens back to Jessop's and said that I believe it is faulty and they confirmed there is a fault with the focusing system,so all this time I have been fighting a losing battle with this lens,GUTTED!
REGARDING is mode am I correct in saying mode 1 is for still and mode 2 is for panning
I case you are wondering when I took the lens back jessops said they would have to return it to Canon and they repair it(if poss) and this would take 4-5 weeks, which I said was totallly unacceptable being as it has beeen faulty from day 1,after many calls to canon and jessops head office, they Have today exchanged my lens for a brand new product,so now I am happy again, thank god..
