I'm after a digital compact with a 28mm -or better still 24 - (35mm
equivilent) lens. Not too worried about optical zoom levels - 2 or 3 is
fine. Lots of manual control needed and a decent built in flash allow
difficult difficult light work. 4+meg is fine. Asking alot for a compact I
know, but any ideas would be helpful

Also what are the good WWWsites with comparative spec lists for compacts.

Thanks

Hi
Canon S80 would fit the bill although no RAW. Or an S70 if you can still get
one. Full manual, plus ap & shutter priority....without having to go through
loads of menus....just on the dial like an SLR.
28-100ish zoom.

You an get a Canon S70 from www.ebuyer.co.uk for about £220.  I've just
ordered one.  Should be just as good as the S80 but you've got the Raw
support and you'll save yourself a load of dosh.  You can use it underwater
too with the special housing that's available.  And it supports CF which the
S80 doesn't so if like me you've got other CF stuff then it's a winner.
