Canon cash back offers

I bought a 350d last week from cameras2u.com, Canon are offering £100 cash
back if you buy the item with a mastercard, which I did. I order to claim
the money back you have to send off your receipt clearly showing the item
was paid for with a mastercard. The problem is, the invoice I got from
cameras2u.com does not mention in any way the method of payment. I've
emailed them to see if they can see me a 'proper' receipt but I'm not
hopeful. Seems a shame to miss out on a £100 because the vendors invoice is
formatted a certain way. Has anyone overcome such a problem before? anddoes
anyone have any advice?

Regardless of their invoice format you should have had a credit card
receipt with it - if they didn't then you can ask them for it. I would
have thought that enclosing that with the invoice would be sufficient.

Just for info. At the moment there is a worldwide shortage of 256mb CF cards
from Sandisk. Part of the special offer currently with Canon when buying the
350D is one of these cards.

I have been advised by Canon via e-mail that due to this shortage they
cannot provide me with said card and they apologise for any inconvenience.
So....................................................................................................................................

they are sending out 512mb cards instead (FOC)!

Merry Christmas!

I registered for my card today, hope I get the same offer. I also sent
my form in for the 100 quid mastercard cash back so fingers crossed -
that deal seems almost too good to be true, almost 20% off the cost of
the camera.

Fingers crossed.

The only let down (being picky now) was the so called £600 discount on Canon
products by way of vouchers.

I am more than happy to spend some more money on glass but was dissapointed
that the vouchers restrict you to only a limited range of products.

Never mind, can't have it all I suppose.

Yup...I got the same email on registering my shiny new 20D.......luckily I
was able to use a voucher for £70 off the 10-22.....so £100 off the 20D, £70
off the lens and now a 512 card!
Smile!!

Well I received my 512mb CF card today. Delighted.
Means I can take 129 photos on maximum setting (not RAW).

What a lovely bit of kit.

Ah, but when you start using the RAW setting it can be addictive!  Only
downside on a big card is that it takes such a long time to write RAW files
at least it does on mine.  So for sports and action photography I always use
JPEG's.

I've now got one on order.
I wouldn't have known about the cashback offer if I hadn't read it
here.

Depending on which camera you have, a faster card might help.  My
Canon 350D with a Sandisk Ultra II card saves raw files faster than I
can shoot.

Received my 512mb card yesterday,,,,very quick compared to their cash back
offer. I will no doubt have to wait for weeks for that. I did last time I
took up an offer.
Good for Canon this time It is only a "normal" speed card but great as a
third string.

Okay, have just returned from a break in the country and have been clicking
away like mad. Am very impressed with the quality of JPEG, will now try RAW,
see if I get addicted!

In response to Julie, is there a recommended card for this model i.e. very
fast, stable, not prone to errors etc.?

I have a SanDisk Ultra 11 card I have used since I bought my 10D (now traded
for the 20D) It has been very reliable and writes swiftly...especially in
the 20D. There are even faster cards now though. The SanDisk cards are good
though as are Lexar.
There is a website with reviews of write/read times for loads of cards:
http://www.dpreview.com/articles/mediacompare/

but I'm not sure I could tell the difference between the best performers.

Thanks Julie, I have seen this table before, and it helps me choose.
However, I was more thinking about read/write times specifically with the
350D, accepting that generally speaking such times will tend to be the same
across all camera models, within a few milliseconds!.
