Flash for Pentax

Hi guys,

I'm still almost a newbie in photography, especially in using flash
lite.
I have a Pentax Mz-5 and an MX and some manual and AF lenses:
Pentax K 28mm f/3,5
Pentax AF 50mm f/1,4
Pentax K 125mm f/2,5
Pentax AF 28-70 f/4
Pentax AF 80-200 f/4-5,6
I also bought the Sekonic Flash meter L-350.
I would like to look for a couple more lenses (Flektogon 20mm, Pentax M
300 f/4),
but now I would like to buy a flash as the one on my Mz-5 is broken and
never
satisfied me completely.
I would like not a pro flash but also not a flash for amateur.
I would like something nice to learn using flash more creatively for
example using
it far from the camera or using 2 different flashes and so on.

I would like to have some suggestion for a good but not too expansive
flash that I
would like to use on both my cameras and connected also to the Sekonic
flash meter.
How would I do this connection? I have no idea on what exactly I should
buy and
how to use it to make the flash linked to the camera and the meter.

Someone here in Italy suggested me the Metz 45 (but I don't understand
which model)
but I think maybe it's too big and the Pentax AF 360 but I'm not sure
it would work
with the Pentax MX. What do you think? What I should look for in Ebay?

Thanks!!

I too am a Pentax user. The flash on my *ist (how do you say it?)
is a bit of a joke, it cant "see" over the lens, so you get a
huge black shadow in the foreground.

To add to your question I was wondering if theres something other
than flash thats not too expensive or huge that would give more
attractive lighting. I needed a shot of a mushroom and by
accident almost, used natural north light and all the house
lights I could find
"http://www.fellwalk.co.uk/wildmushroom.htm"

the effect was much nicer than flash, or can flash itself be used
to better effect?

Well I love ambient light. I also used artificial lights and trying to
learn how to use them better. But I also believe that learning very
well how to use a flash would produce interesting shot especially in
certain condition or different kind of shots. This is why I would like
to buy a flash to make some experiments. I think one of the Metz CT>3
would be good but I still miss some info on how to use them, if they
fit my needs, how to connect to both camera and meter and if I can use
it wit h both mz-5 and MX

I always see that as a bowdlerised form of "pissed".
