Hi,
Further to my last thread I am getting better at this.
http://www.justrimless.com/images/thi266.gif
The above is a full rimmed frame, the rimless types are still posing me a
problem.
What would make life easier is if I could plug the camera into the PC, point
it at the frame then when happy take the shot.
Are there cameras and/or software that make this possible?
Also last time some folks suggested getting a pro to do the shots, of the
few I phoned today the only one I managed to get to speak to said he could
get it (shoot 30 frames) done in a day and would charge me £700.
It was all I could do not to fall out of my seat, do you guys earn this
much? Jesus I am in the wrong job!

There, you go, that's not too bad.

My Canon Ixus 400 allows for this. Except for the bigger screen though,
why would it be any easier than using the cameras screen?

Why .gif?

Didn't it come with a lead to connect it to a TV set?

A day??? For essentially the same shot over and over? Surely you'd be
talking a couple of hours tops.

Thats a good point.
I have got into the habit of doing everything as gif for when I need
tranparency. Where a rectangular pic will do I will try to remember to use
jpg..

You've definitely improved from the last time you posted. What you really
need now is control of lighting: Shaping; power, direction and proximity.
This is what will get you the highlights and shadows you need to delineate
the rimless glass edges against the white background.
£700 for a batch of 30 is steep IMHO. Setting up the lighting can take quite
some time but once that's done you're looking at an approx. 1 hours shooting
time and about 2 hours processing. A tog that knows his processing well will
also be able to colour profile, resize and sharpen the images to appear
perfect on the Web (better than Specsavers!). If you want to foot the P&P
costs each way I could do all this for you at less £12.50 per frame for
batches of 10-29 or £10 for batches or 30+. You would get both print and Web
optimised image files of each one. You're welcome to send over just one to
get a sample Web sized shot FOC
