Whats the latest thoughts on Err 99? Do we take the camera's back to the
shop for a change / service or do we live with it because it's endemic in
20Ds?

Is the back removable on a 20DS then? I would return the whole camera.

Crawcrook,UK                  land where the soap won't lather?

I'm going to. Trouble is, Canon have a six week turnaround right now and I'm
off to canada for two weeks in three weeks time!

Depends on amount of errors. My 20d played up constantly, getting worse to
the extent that it would not take any pix. Back to Canon UK (who shipped it
out to Lehmans (http://www.lehmannsdirect.co.uk/) who returned it in around
10 days with a new shutter.  My err99 was not caused by the lens or memory
card ( tried 3 of each ). Since return I have had no errors at all!!
