Hi there everyone.

Having used Photoshop 7 & CS I have now had the opportunity to try both
Photoshop CS2 & Elements 3. I'm trying to decide which suits my purposes
better. I wish to become atleast as semi pro wildlife photographer. I have
been practicing the art for approx 3 years now. It seems to me that
Photoshop CS & CS2 have been designed with more than one use in mind & not
specifically for digital photography, however elements appears to be
designed more for the digital photographer than the designer. I'm a great
believer in that a good photographer should be able to produce something
usable straight out of the camera without the need for major RAW processing.
All I use software for is the conversion of RAW files to TIFF & for the
removal of dust etc... when it occurs. I can't really see or understand why
all photographers & websites state that if you wish to become a pro or are a
pro then you should be using the full photoshop product. To me at this stage
it seems a very expensive over kill.

I would really appreciate feedback from you guys to help me make my final
decision.  One other point: The cataloging within elements in my oppinion
seems to be better than that of CS it also has built in CD/DVD burning
capabilities as CS does not. I admit that it's not an important feature, but
quite nice never the less.

All feedback appreciated!

Clinton.

An old chestnut
I'm a keen amateur with a leaning to landscapes and wild
flowers.......Pembrokeshire Coast Path about to be stunning.

I was "lent" a copy of PS and found it too detailed for my use.

I have had elements 1 2 and now three. It is superb as well being cheap. The
cataloguing is fine and easy to use.

Using a PS plugin, I can download RAW from my D70 and file it in my RAW
collection. Easy to burn to DVD.

I just love the WB adjustment in RAW..............coupled with the power of
elements....say no more except I would have liked curves.

Sorry to butt in on the discussion...but if you would like curves in
Elements, then go to:

Thanks for your input guys, appreciate it.

Had hoped for a few more replies from people though, especially pro's.

Do any Pro's use Elements?

At present as mentioned I have both CS & Elements & I have to agree with
John that CS just seams an over kill or am I just missing something. OK CS2
allows things like editing in 32 bits but to my knowledge no printers
support that anyway & all the other stuff is good for design work, but what
pro photographer does that sort of stuff.

Thanks again guys!
