I currently have a Minolta Dynax 5xi with two Minolta xi lenses, one 28-80
the other 80-200.
I had been looking at getting a digital SLR and was edging towards the Canon
300D, but I cannot justify the money at the moment. I see that Minolta now
have a digital SLR that would take my lenses, so this would be one possible
future upgrade.
I have decided to wait for the digital SLR to come down in price/second
hand. Until then I would like to replace the 5xi with another Minolta body.
My local camera store T4 cameras has a 2nd user Dynax 700si for ?140 is this
a reasonable price and what would I gain? Failing that what other models
would people recommend. I am out of touch with the various Minolta model
ranges since I bought my 5xi.
many thanks
Vernon

Don't forget that your lenses will all be a bit longer because the chip will
be smaller tham the 35mm frame.

Hi Vernon,
I don't know too much on the Minolta system but the standard upgrade from
the Dynax 5 would be the Dynax 7 which is a pro body as Minolta have nothing
for serious amatuer like Nikons F80 and Canons EOS30.
It may be worthwhile trying to find Minolta website/newsgroup and asking
what was a good pro body around 4/5yrs ago which you may get a good deal on.
All the best anyway, and who knows maybe Santa will surprise you with a
digital dynax?
There's also a Dynax on ebay but the reserve has not been met yet, though 2
days to go:
