Jacobs have one of the biggest selection of bags and tripods I recall
seing in London, but another shop worth visiting is Cameraworld (Wells St,
just off Oxford St):
http://www.cameraworld.co.uk/
The rucksack I wanted was about 20GBP cheaper there than in some other
shops. It's also worth mentioning that Speed Graphic have a very fast mail
order service (can be next day delivery) for this sort of thing, and
probably a bigger selection of filters than you'll find in any London
shop:
http://www.speedgraphic.co.uk/
(or you could request a catalogue and see if the other shops will price-
match).
A couple of other shops that might also be worth checking for filters,
etc:
On the Strand:

Bloomsbury/Holborn (near British Museum):

http://www.rglewis.co.uk/
York Cameras (Bury Place, no website).
Tottenham Ct Rd:
http://www.westendcameras.com/
http://www.kingsleyphoto.co.uk/
(NB - there are also some rather less reputable shops on this street
selling photo gear - caveat emptor).
Regarding galleries etc. - it's worth picking up a copy of the weekly
listings magazine _Time Out_ (widely available) or the photo exhibition
listings (pocket) magazine _Pluk_. You can get the latter from, e.g. the
Shipley photo bookshop on the Charing Cross Rd., or the nearby
Photographer's Gallery close to Leicester Square:
http://www.photonet.org.uk/
(both well worth a visit in any case).
Hope this helps,
Richard.
