Why ? I don't believe their excuse that its due to banking regulations.

I ordered something from there a week ago using Visa with no problems at
all.

Although, as a new international customer, I did have to email them a scan
of my CC before placing the order....

I found this out recently - to my cost. I placed the order, they took
money out of my card (UK, MBNA Mastercard) then refused to ship the
goods until they had recieved a scan of both sides of the card either by
FAX or email. MBNA stongly advised me to not do this, which I told B&H,
but they just stood their ground, so I had no option but to cancel
the order.

It took them 10 days to refund my card and I lost a few quid in currency
conversion charges in the process.

I think it may have been a bad idea to show them the reverse of your card.
They now have a sample of your signature and the security code.    Perhaps
you should contact your card provider and ask their advice.

I've ordered from B&H on 3 occasions to the UK, no problems with VISA (2
cards) once I'd sent them the scan.
