I'm looking for a P+S that I can carry round when my DSLR is too bulky
or obtrusive, but I've been disappointed with the limitations of my
Ixus as it has no manual control, so I miss a lot of pictures.

Can anyone suggest a good manual P+S? I've looked at the Panasonic LX1,
but dpreview is pretty mixed on the subject. I also considered the
Olympus mju-810 but it takes xD cards, and I have a stack of SD that
would go to waste!

Ideas welcomed!!

My little Samsung Digimax V700 has manual focus, shutter, aperture, ISO, and
white balance options, as well as various automatic modes.  The optical
viewfinder is also handy sometimes.  (It uses SD cards too).
