Am I mistaken, or does the 16x9 example appear to be at a different
focal length from the others? Doesn't that render the comparison
invalid, angle-of-coveragely speaking?

Otherwise, I think he was as kind as he could be, and got it just
about right. Noise, and playback function on the mode wheel, are the
serious anti-features.

Re: Noise... I just got one to replace my Oly ( very unhappy with that
camera) as a EDU, and from the reviews, expected to have noise issues.
But during a quick comparison at 400 with the Oly, I didn't see all that
much difference in full size prints (of course, as an former "slide"
shooter, I shoot in "full frame" mode, so the ability to do extensive
cropping isn't an issue.

Does this camera really have all that much more noise than your average P &
S ? Given the hype out there, I was expecting much worse (went with the
camera anyway due to the control it offers).
