Some months ago i shot a wedding and printed on a really nice Kodak paper-if
i recall was called silk ? or something like that. It had a very nice matt
feel.

I'm now in a different country so cannot just go and ask that lab.
I tried to have alook at available Papers from Kodak but i oculd only find
Porta and Supra.

www.lab35.co.uk  print on Royal Plus paper.
I couldnt find any places online that sell colr photographic paper. Would it
be more expensive for me to buy the paper and as k the lab to print on it ?

Also,
how is the film related to the paper ? I assume a let's say Supra Portra
paper will have similar charactheristics to the Potra film, so it's likely
to reproduce the image more faithfully ?

Thanks

p.s. Any UK labs with a wider selection of paper would be welcome.

Your first link was..... a book ! called ' silver paper ' :) and the second

to print your 35mm films......
Thanks anyway....

Kodak paper comes in several finishes.  Their "F" paper is glossy, "N"
is matte and "E" paper is called satin.  It is a slightly pebbly
looking finish which is easier to handle with bare hands than glossy
paper.  You should be able to request the finish you want at a
professional lab.  In my opinion Supra paper provides the most natural
colours from Portra film.  I may be wrong but I believe Portra paper
has a lower contrast than supra papers.  I tried to print a medium
contrast Portra negative on medium contrast Portra paper and it looked
very flat.

There is a "silk" too, don't recall the letter..."Y" maybe?.  It isn't
normally used by pro labs, more by photo finshers and not even many of them.

I have been custom colour printing and minilab printing for 19 years
with Kodak paper only and have never heard of a "silk" finish.  There
is no indication of it on their website.  It's possible there is such
a thing from another country but it's much more likely the OP was
talking about the "satin" finish.

Nope, USA Kodak. It is a fine, regularly embossed pattern, same as it is/was
in black & white.  And it is "Y".

Go down the pages to "Sizes Available" on the left hand side...

I stand corrected.  I have never seen it where I live and have never
been able to order it here, or at least it wasn't offered to us by
Kodak Canada.
