It may be a bit of a drive, but the area a north of Ellsworth (the
nearest town to Acadia National Park except for Bar Harbor) has a lot
of blueberry fields and erratics (large rocks dropped off in the middle
of fields by glaciers). The best place for this is probably in and
around the town of Cherryfield on ME Rt. 193. The bushes may be
turning red by this time of year, too. While you're there, you can
explore the coastal areas around Winter Harbor, Milbridge, etc.
Schoodic Point is also located in Winter Harbor, and is a part of
Acadia that a lot of people miss if they just stick to the island.
If that's too far to drive, Pemaquid Point isn't too far away, and
neither is Camden Hills State Park. Camden Hills has two parts - the
rocky coast thing which is on the right side of the road (if you're
taking Rt. 1 North from the Boothbay area), and the Mt. Battie auto
road on the left.
I hope this helps, and I hope I'm not too late. When is/was your trip?

I'm not the original poster but will be in Maine near Bar Harbor for 4
days in mid-Oct and was looking for spots with blueberry fields,
hopefully ones turning color, so thanks for the info. Anyone else know
of other areas in this general area I'd appreciate hearing about them
as well.

Other great spots for blueberry fields are the Blue Hill and Deer
Isle/Stonington areas. Caterpillar Hill in Sedgwick is one spot you
might not want to miss. Here is a photo of it:

We returned after a week there on Tuesday. The weather was generally lousy,
but I did get some good shots of harbor and seaport stuff in moderately
dense fog -- though that could always be added in Photoshop, it was nice to
see what the real stuff is like. Found a few flowers, mostly in gardens,
and a ton of railroad prototype stuff (which was the original purpose of the
trip) -- but not much else.
Thanks for the suggestions

It's a shame about the weather, as it has been unseasonally gorgeous
for the past few days, and is expected to remain so through the
weekend. Last weekend was very wet though, as you surely know.
Well I hope at least that my post will come up in people's searches in
the future if they are looking for locations to shoot in that area.
