My old Canon A-1 (a workhorse if there ever was one), has developed the
problem of rapidly draining the battery.  It takes only a few days for this
to happen.  Would appreciate hearing from anyone who has addressed a similar
problem.

I'd check the contacts for the battery, and hotshoe.  make sure they're
clean.   also, assuming the A-1 is somewhat similar to the AE-1...  does the
meter function properly (only when shutter release is half-way down)?  if
it's alwats metering, that'll lower the battery a bit faster.

sorry, I know nothing about the A-1, just cameras and electronics in
general.
