Hi,
I'm getting a number of requests for use of my images
on web sites.  Is there a guide somewhere that
covers what typical charges are?  I've seen guides
for book and magazine publications, but not web.

Thanks for any info.

To get an idea, you could start with the license fees that customers
of stock-agencies have to pay. After registration you can e.g. use the
price calculator at
<http://creative.gettyimages.com/source/home/license.aspx>.

Gettyimages prices royalty-free images based on the file size of a
particular image and vary depending on collection. For licensing for
the web, a territory that best represents the location of the buyer's
primary audience could be used as a start.
Exclusivity allows buyers to prevent or limit others from using the
same image(s) for the duration of their license. They differentiate
between spot, industry, use, and total exclusivity.

Lots of success,
Bart

Hi Roger,

Maybe you could try the following site. Prices are in Canadian currency and I'm
not sure how up to date they are.

Yes, but it depends on what they want to use it for.
Are they going to resell it?, are they going to say it is theres?  Are they
going to link to your site? Some even have different prices for what size
the image is (that doesn't make much sense to me, but what do i know?)  etc.
etc

I have seen your photos on your site sir and I have to say thsat your are
VERY good.  I think you have even better photos than myself
(http://floridaphotogallery.com)  Do you travel a alot?

Anyway back to your question, check out some site that sell exclusive rights
stock photogeraphy, unless you want to sell it "royalty free"  a good place
to start would be around $300-$500 for exclisive rights.  For non exclisive
rights I would consider putting together a stock photo CD and they go for
around $300.  For example a month worth of all you can download at
shutterfly.com costs $119.00.  The photographjeers are only getting .20 per
photo downloaded though so i can't really recommend joinging them.
Individuals w/ stock photos are getting between $100 to $300 (or asking
anyway) for their stock photo CD's.  It can very difficult to get sales
though.  I'm releasing mine for only $40, because I'm thinking volunme or
have low sel-esteem or something . . .

Anyway I hope that  helps!

Check your web site. Although the home page loads, any menues on the
left give me a 'permissioned denied' in additon to a 404 (file not found).

I'd suggest you make use the link validator at
http://validator.w3.org/checklink
and get it to recurse down your site.

I would add I use a slightly unusual OS (Solaris on a Sun Ultra 80 with
Mozilla as a browser). However, a site is poor if it only works with
Internet Explorer or some other browser.
