Wife and I were on St. Paul a couple of weeks ago and despite missing three
days of shooting due to rain and fog we got a few shots of puffins, foxes,
seals and other birds.

Check it out at http://members.aol.com/hiltonfotography/pribilofs/murre.htm ...
some of the images are pretty big in pixels (over 800 x 800) but because
digital images are smoother and less noisy than film the file sizes in KB
aren't too bad (26 - 70 KB).  Let me know if you see any problems.

Wow.... is all I can say... Really Great Images.

Sounds like it was a lot of fun too. Except for no light till the last
image.

Yes, we're leaving soon to do a custom trip in the Katmai backcountry (not the
Brooks River area but in the wilderness).  Roger Clark and his new Mark II will
be along for the ride on this one.  This is the shot I'm trying to beat,
looking to get a bit closer to a larger bear doing something more interesting
than walking up to fog the front of my lens with his fish breath ...

Hi Bill,

If you get into a "writing mood" ... I'd sure like to see a follow-up post
from you regarding the details of how you went about this shoot.

Just amazing images and absolutely appreciated for the great work involved.

There are many wonderful photographers out there, and you have certainly
been added to my shortest list of those photographers whose work I sincerely
appreciate.

I honestly hope to meet you some day.  I stopped doing seminars and such
many years ago and now shoot on my own.  If you are involved in teaching,
field trips or seminars I would like to find out more information about
when/where.

Regards,

BJ

Thanks BJ, glad you liked them.  It was a fun trip, after the rain stopped.

We're going to start taking groups to Bosque del Apache and, hopefully, to the
Pribs next year for birds.  Thinking about a Florida trip but may wait a year
after this big hurricane.  Also teaching a class next summer in Colorado on
"Photo Impressionism Techniques" at a museum that is having an exhibit of our
work, and also teach a class in "Photoshop for Photographers" locally.  Also a
one day beginning bird photography class locally here in the spring at a local
botanical gardens.

Drop me an email (change .comedy to .com) if you want more details, though I'm
heading back to Alaska soon for trips to Denali and Katmai and won't be getting
mail for a while.  I hope to put up a completed web site this fall, once I have
more time.

Thanks again for the kind words.

Bill
