I know there is a gadget that can do this but I can't seem to find it. Some
time ago I saw a TV program showing a photographer takes pictures, develop
the 35mm film and then slide the negs into a gadget that made the pics
appear as positives on a laptop monitor, with no printing or scanning
needed. What is this equipment called? and where can one get it?
Thanks for any help.

Clearly the Gadget was a scanner. Software can invert the image and make
a negative into a positive or vice versa.  I saw one for once aps than
would work directly with a tv set, no computer involved (except the one
in the scanner itself).

What is this equipment called? and where can one get it?

These contraptions come up on eBay occasionally.  They combine a CCD
camera with a frame grabber and automatically invert colours. Usually
640 x 480 and not good enough quality for imaging.  They were meant
for wedding photographers etc. to give quick preview of shots for
ordering and later processing.
