i turn the flash on i hear the buzzing noise and the light turns on and
everything but when i go take a picture the flash won't go off.i dont think
it's the battery since the light turns on. i was thinking it might be the
accessory shoe does anyone know what it might be? please help.

can you test fire it, do you have a sync cord? short it with a key and see
if it fires that way. if not the flash maybe the problem, if so, then the
problem maybe in the camera.

take an eraser and rub the contacts, maybe they are a bit corroded.
