Hi everyone,

Is there a large difference between the Nikkor 85mm non-D and the
D-version of the AF lenses Nikon made!

Pros and cons of both?
Reviews are welcome (but I only found some reviews about the D-version)
What about compatibility with the Nikon D70 camera? 3D-matrix
light-control and so on?

Thanks in advance,
Preben

I don't think there is a optical formula difference in the two versions.
I love my 85mm f/1.8 AF-D.  The 85mm f/1.8 AF will meter with the D70
including matrix metering.  Like all CPU lenses without the "D". They
will not do 3D matrix metering though.  The later mode helps in some
flash situations but for most photography you will not see any
difference in the two.  If you are thinking about using it for Portraits
with Studio flash, you most likely will not be using the camera meter
anyway.  To be sure though you should RTFM for the D70.  Although I have
not read one for the D70 myself, I have read the books for both my N80
and F100 and they both have a lens chart to help you figure out which
lenses work with which metering modes on the body.  I imagine the D70's
does likewise.

Yeah, but not a very good list - i would say!
I didn't even know that there was matrix measuring which wasn't 3D.
And I have RTFM, but maybe not good enough!
