I am trying to locate a mnaual for the Metz 36/CT2 flash, or a
description of its usage and a description of the W and M modes?

You might find one on the Metz website. If you ask tech support at Metz
they might have one. W is likely going to be the winder mode. Very low power
output to use when blasting away with the motordrive. I guess M is the
manual mode. Does it give fractions? If it does M is full power. Every
fraction is a fraction of full power.
