Hi All: I'm thinking of buying a CAnon A95 for my daughter for her
14th birthday. It is pricey but I don't want to buy poor quality. I'd
reather spend a little more and get something good.
Is this camera too sophisticated for a 14 year old. She is pretty
smart when It comes to computers etc. Last year I bought her an iPod
and she still has it and it is still in good shape.

It basically depends on the 14 year old, what they want, their skills,
their ability to learn, and the family budget. Some would do well
with a complete professional system and others would be dangerous with
a point-and-shoot. Of course there are a lot of adults like that as
well<:-))
It all depends...

I learnt photography on a manual SLR at about the same age, & I found it
very rewarding. Buy her a standard book on basic photography to go with
it, (so she can learn how to use the manual modes) & you may well see
her creativity blossom as a result.
Given that you've found that she can be trusted to look after her
property, my advice is to go ahead & buy it for her. :)
