I'm not interested in the sf, so 2 portrait lenses suggest themselves: The
140 Macro or the 180. Now for the questions:
   1. Any general recommendations for 1 over the other?
   2. What are the "macro" capabilities of the 140?
   3. 180 seems a little long for a head & shoulders shot, so I'm leaning
toward the 140. Any comments/observations?

For many years I used the 150MM soft focus for RB.  It was a little
short but the soft focus was gorgeous.
