C330 question

On the C330,  there is an ASA indication shifting lever, and a film type
indication select lever.

Do these dials have actually have any effect on the exposure?

See, I"m trying to figure this out, because  if I select the correct
aperture and shutter on the lens, based on an incident reading in which an
incident meter is set to the correct ASA, etc,  it seems to me these dials
are pointless.

They are there solely as a reminder, they will have no effect.

These dials are just reminders for what you have loaded in the camera,
to be used as you see fit.
