Hi all,

I just purchased a 645NII. second hand with warranty.

Everything seems fine apart from the Mirror Lock Up. I am not sure if I am
doing something wrong or if there is a problem with the camera.

I put the camera into M.UP mode.  I focus and then push the shutter release.
The mirror locks up as it should and then the camera beeps to let me know
that it has been locked up. If I push the shutter release again the beeping
stops and that is it. The shutter does not seems to activate and the mirror
stays up.  The only way to get the mirror down again appears to be to remove
the batteries.  I am not testing with a cable release (although I am not
sure whether this would make a difference).

Does this sound like a problem?  Has anyone else experienced a similar
problem?

thanks
Nigel

Really?  From whom?  Most manufacturers' warranties are valid for the
original owner only, so used equipment normally comes with no warranty.

Most camera-dealers I know give a warranty (typically limited to 3 or 6
months) on used equipment. Isn't that normal in the US?

Yes, this is not an unusual arrangement from reputable dealers in the US.

Not sure which country you are based in but most Camera shops I know of will
give you some sort of warranty to encourage you to buy from them at a
slightly higher price than you may get the item elsewhere.

Of course, that may depend on the quality of the item too.
