I use a 522 with my Mamiya 645 Pro. I always set the flash on auto at
8 and the camera to 5.6 on manual. If I have a large group, I set
the camera to 4 and move back far enough to get everyone in the
picture. This works for me at weddings. For other applications you
will have to experiment. But I always set the autoflash one stop
higher (numerically) that the camera.
Hope this helps.

What shutter speed do you suggest? I'm using Fuji NPS-160
I plan on testing a roll today - just want to get as close as possible.

I use a shutter speed of 1/60 of a second. I also use NPH 400 speed
film, but the principle still applys with 160 speed film. You'll just
use up your batteries a little faster.
I got the idea from a book by the Hurth's. Basically, you pick an
aperture that gives you acceptable depth-of-field for the shot you
want and set the autoflash one stop stronger. I've been using it for
years with results that are pleasing to me.
Good luck.

I have a Sunpak 522 and an ETRSi. I set the camera on f8 and 60 sec for 160-400
film. This is an easy flash to use. Good luck. Marie
